Reference Range Less than 500 BKV DNA copies/ml
Assay Results Range: 500 to 1.0 x 10e10 BKV DNA copies/ml.
TAT 24-72 hours
CPT Code 87799, Infectious agent detection by nucleic acid, not otherwise specified; quantification probe technique

BK virus (BKV) DNA quantitation is based upon the real-time PCR amplification and detection of BKV genomic DNA. The quantitative range of this assay is 500 to 1.0 x 10e10 BKV DNA copies/ml. A patient value of less than 500 BKV DNA copies/ml indicates that the patient’s viral load is below the quantitative limit of this assay, and does not indicate that the patient is not infected with BKV.
